Crafted by the Khatri artisans of Gujarat and Sindh, the process begins with washing fabric in river water and treating it with natural mordants like camel dung, castor oil, and myrobalan to enhance dye absorption. Using hand-carved wooden blocks, intricate geometric and floral patterns are meticulously stamped in a rhythmic sequence. The fabric undergoes multiple dye baths in rich indigo and deep madder red, with resist printing techniques creating striking contrasts. Sun-dried and washed several times, the final piece emerges with a mesmerizing symmetry, echoing the essence of the desert and the timeless artistry of Ajrak.
